A repurposed headboard

This was one of those genius ideas I got out of nowhere & thought… why has no one ever thought of this. But turns out, people have cause when I googled room divider headboard, 51 images popped up. Regardless this is one of my favorite pieces and was super easy to create. Cheap room dividers can be sneaky, this is one of those home accessories that I think have kind of slowly died out but have no fear, craigslist is your friend and I guarantee if you check it daily even hourly for that matter you will have a nice inexpensive one in no time. Mine kind of just fell in my lap as my neighbors were moving and getting rid of a lot of items so it was free. Originally I was planning on moving into a studio apartment and would use the divider to hide my bed behind but lucked out and found a nicely priced one bedroom so there was no need. I decided to repurpose and use as my headboard and it turned out beautifully.

What you need

-Old 3 section room divider (ideal for a full size bed but worked for my queen as well)

– Your color choice can of spray paint

– sander is optional

*If you luck out with a style and color you already love then well… no steps necessary. (your bed will hold the divider firmly in place against your wall so no handy work is needed.) That is unless you’re all about making crafts technical… do what you may,

*Sanding is optional depending on the style of the divider you go with. Mine was a weave so I sanded by hand just so the spray paint would stick better but in all honesty feel it was completely unnecessary so half ass what you can. skip the sanding.

*I ended up needing to go back to buy more paint but front and back of the divider took about 4 1/2 cans. Hold can a foot away from piece and spray vertically each section. I did two layers of paint & it was blotch free which is the goal.

This head board has lasted me three years. I have dressed it up with garland, string lights, framed it with mirrors, flowers and no matter how I dress it up I always get compliments. It’s simple but unique and it was next to nothing in price. My kind of furniture if you as me. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for reading.
